Did you know there are currently no full-time upper voice choral ensembles in the US?
As a Foundation, we felt drawn to address this gap, and appointed six amazing women to a new upper voice ensemble, Lyyra! They have already begun to expand our capacity to reach more communities and classrooms across the US with our Education Hubs model and to invite exciting new commissions and arrangements. As part of their core mission, Lyyra hopes to feature and spearhead the broad range of American choral traditions, spanning genres and time, and featuring underrepresented artists to inspire further conversations and more opportunities that fill this deficit.
Our broader annual goal to support our vision for this ensemble — including offering them full-time positions and a robust concert and education schedule — is $300,000. Lyyra is actively involved in the Foundation's work and has a full slate of tour dates for the 2024-25 season, alongside which they will be making stops at schools and community programs, providing workshops and opportunities to spread their passion for music education. We look forward to sharing their vocal artistry with you.
